Shortly after the breakup of the Robbins and Coman Band, Pat Herlehy and John Robbins joined forces again to form a well received jazz band called Avant Rok.  Avant Rok worked full-time in the Tampa area with appearances around Florida, entertaining folks with their wild jazz/rock format.  The line-up for Avant Rok was:

            Pat Herlehy Alto Sax, guitar and vocals
            Jim Holibaugh: soprano sax and tenor sax
            Chick Ragan: Drums & vocals
            John Robbins Keyboards, bass & vocals

Unfortunately, we have been unable to locate any of photographs of Avant Rok.

The chemistry of the band was volatile often exploding into wild performances and equally volatile off-stage antics.  The off-stage antics led to an early demise of the band and they went their separate ways in May 1982.   Recently some mind-boggling recordings of this band were discovered.  A CD is planned for release some time in 2007, so check back later for more details!
